'Anushka Sharma-Virat Kohli see god in each other': Harshdeep Kaur on singing their wedding song ‘Peer Vi Tu’

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli’s intimate yet grand marriage in 2017 in Tuscany, Italy has started trends like wedding songs and pastel bridal lehengas to intimate ceremonies and paparazzi-free celebrations.

On their first anniversary, the couple’s wedding song was released titled ‘Peer Vi Tu’, which was crooned by Harshdeep Kaur. In a recent interaction, the singer reflected on how Virushka felt about one another.

“I was part of their wedding song ‘Peer Vi Tu’ that was released on their anniversary. I got the brief that it is a love song and that the song’s lyrics are what Virat and Anushka feel for each other — that they see god in each other. Vishal Punjabi was directing it and he said, ‘Bus yahi feeling chahiye (I want this feeling). Just feel these words and sing,’" said Kaur in a recent chat with The Music Podcast.

“Virat-Anushka’s song said what they were feeling for each other. I think that’s what getting together means when you are so much in love, you see everything in the person you are getting married to. That was the brief given to me – total submission," she told E Times earlier.

Talking about their wedding, Anushka had told Filmfare in 2019,  “We wanted to keep it genuine. We didn’t want it to be adulterated and touched by anything which would remind us that we’re celebrities. We were with our parents and our siblings, who’ve sacrificed so much for us, our closest friends, who’ve supported us through our worst."

“If we’d allowed it to become public in any way, we would be reminded of our public standing. We didn’t want that. We just wanted to be like two people in love," the actress said.

She added, “We never counted for who we were publicly when we fell in love. Our beings fell in love. We wanted to feel that purity at our wedding. That’s why we kept it so close to our hearts and kept it away from anything, which would make us think about anything other than us and the people who were part of this. It was surreal."
