Animal: Not Ranbir Kapoor, but this South superstar was Sandeep Reddy Vanga's first choice

Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga earned accolades with his 2019 Bollywood movie, Kabir Singh. Following the massive success, he is now back with another film, Animal, to enthral the audience. Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming flick boasts a talented star cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol. While the movie is being made in Hindi, reports suggest that the director initially planned to make it in Telugu. And guess what, Ranbir Kapoor was not the first choice of Sandeep Reddy Vanga as the lead. According to reports, Ranbir Kapoor ’s role in Animal was first offered to South superstar Mahesh Babu . But the actor turned down the offer. A report by SpotboyE suggest that the Arjun Reddy director even had a meeting with Mahesh Babu for the possible collaboration. However, the actor apparently refused to take up the role as he was hesitant to do a film that deals with such a dark subject. He thought his core audience would not be able to connect to the subject. The film was tentetively named, Devil. Earlier, in an interaction on social media, Sandeep Reddy Vanga spoke highly of the actor, calling him ’extremely focused’. “I worked on an ad film with Mahesh (Babu). It was a one-day schedule. He was extremely focused. I like the way he spoke to us,” the director said. While mentioning that they met four to five times at many events, Vanga went on to add that Mahesh is good-looking and the actor carries himself with ease. “He is beyond what he seems to be and I told this to Mahesh sir. His mannerisms are unique and we don’t see them in his films; he is something else. That factor fascinates me more than what he has done in films to date. We will work together for sure very soon,” the filmmaker said. About Animal As visible in the teaser which released on 28 September, Ranbir Kapoor appears to be an individual who needs constant validation from his father. Despite his father’s physical and emotional abuse, he tries to make his father proud. Animal is scheduled for a release on 1 December and will lock horns with Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur at the box office.
