While Netflix’s latest documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale has shown insights into Lady Superstar’s personal and professional relationships along with his bond with husband and director Vignesh Shivan, it also sheds light on how the romance bloomed between the couple on the sets of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, which Dhanush produced.
Nayanthara recalled that she found Vignesh ‘cute’ when he was directing Vijay Sethupathi on the Pondicherry sets while narrating her love story. When she wrapped up her portions, the actress messaged Shivan that is missing being on sets. However, the director assumed she was joking and initially dismissed the idea of them dating.
Radhika Sarathkumar, who played Vijay Sethupathi’s mother Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, recently revealed that it was Dhanush, who broke the news of Nayanthara-Vignesh Shivan's affair to her.
“It was Dhanush who called me and said, ‘Sister, do you have any shame at all?’ I was like, ‘What is he saying?’ He asked, ‘Aren’t you aware of what’s happening? Don’t you know that Wikki and Nayan are dating?’ I said, ‘What the hell are you saying? I knew nothing,’" Radhika said in the documentary.

While Dhanush played a crucial role in bringing Nayanthara and Shivan together, the relationship has now become a legal tussle as the actor-filmmaker sent a legal notice to the couple and demanded Rs 10 crore.
The 39-year-old actress had asked for permission from Dhanush to use visuals from their 2015 movie Naanum Rowdy Dhaan but he refused to give permission & sent her a legal notice for using behind-the-scenes visuals from the sets of the movie
