Veteran actress and dancer Madhumati known for movies like Ankhen, Tower House, Shikari, Mujhe Jeene Do passed away at the age of 87. During her period, the incredible performer was compared to Helen.
Akshay Kumar paid tribute to his first guru ‘Madhumati’ by sharing unseen old pics and wrote on X, “My first and forever guru. Everything I know about dance, I learnt at your feet, Madhumati ji. Har ada, har expression mein aapki yaad hamesha saath rahegi. Om Shanti”.
Actor Vindu Dara Singh also paid tribute to the legendary artist and wrote on X, “Rest in peace our teacher and guide #Madhumati ji. A beautiful life led filled with love and blessings from so many of us who learnt dancing from this legend (with a folding hand emoji)”
Madhumati, who was trained in Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Manipuri, and Kathakali, was also a great performer in film dance.
Madhumati tied the knot with a respected dancer Deepak Manohar when she was just 19. His husband was considerably older with four kids as her first wife died earlier. While Madhumati’s mother was fond of Deepak, she was skeptical about the pair but the dancer married him against her mother wishes.
