Akshay Kumar is back with another new project! It’s not Bade Miyan Chote Miyan but a documentary that has been recently announced by History TV18. The documentary titled _‘_Statue of Unity: Ekta Ka Prateek’ will have its premiere on March 8 at 8 pm.
Presented by Akshay Kumar , the 40-minute documentary follows the step-by-step journey of the making of the Statue of Unity while also celebrating its spirit to bind the nation together. In addition to that, the documentary also pays homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who is accredited for the integration of 562 fragmented princely states into one nation post-independence.
Directed by Aanand L Rai, the documentary will also feature Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will be sharing insights about the Statue Of Unity while also revealing that he had envisioned this project when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. The series will also divulge the unique initiative undertaken by the PM to get iron for the statue under which more than 6 lakh villages donated an old iron farming tool. The initiative echoes Sardar Patel’s call to farmers during Independence asking them to fight for the same.
Akshay Kumar, meanwhile, was quoted by Mid-Day as saying, “Being part of ‘Statue of Unity: Ekta Ka Prateek’ has been an incredibly humbling experience for me. It’s about honouring the great spirit of unity that resonates within every Indian.”
He added, “Sardar Patel’s vision and leadership continue to inspire us, reminding us of the strength that comes from our unity as a nation. I hope this documentary serves as a reminder of our shared heritage and the power of coming together for a common purpose.”
Meanwhile, the team behind the Statue of Unity, through the documentary, takes the audience on an awe-inspiring journey to let them explore what it took for the ideation, and construction of what has become a major tourist destination now.
Notably, in 2013, the then Chief Minister of Gujarat and now Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi announced his intent to honour Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He, later, laid the foundation stone in Kevadia (Gujarat) and fulfilled his vision to create the tallest statue in the world at 182 meters. For those uninitiated, the number 182 represents the total constituencies in Gujarat’s State Legislative Assembly.
