Ajay Devgn has been in the industry for quite a long time now and he has proved his mettle as an actor, producer and director in these years. Some of the films made under his production house’s banner include _Raju Chach_a, U Me Aur Hum, Bol Bachchan, Son of Sardar, Singham Returns and Shivaay. Now, according to a report by Mumbai Mirror, this film is speculated to be a Hindi remake of 2014’s National Award-winning Tamil film, Jigarthanda. Farhan Akhtar, speaking to Mirror about the film, confirmed that he is part of the project and said, “I met Nishikant and he took me through the journey of the film. It’s a big action-comedy-drama, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s something new for me. I liked his last film, Drishyam, very much and I’ve known Sanju for a really long time. Interestingly, we have similar tastes in music, but we’ve never discussed working together.” The original Tamil film, named after a popular cold drink in Tamil Nadu, was written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The rights of the Kannada and Telugu versions of the film have already been sold. The Hindi adaptation will be backed by Devgn and Abhinav Shuklaa will collaborate as a co-producer. According to Mirror’s report, the premise of the original film was based on an assistant director (played by South star and Rang De Basanti actor Siddharth) who gets fired from a reality TV show. He then decides to make a film on real-life gangster Assault Sethy (played by Bobby Simhaa). Simhaa was awarded the National Award for Best Supporting Actor for his “engaging portrayal of a dreaded Mafia don who plays both the villain and the comic with a rare flamboyance and abandon,” as mentioned in a  PIB report. Akhtar will reportedly play the part of Siddharth, while Dutt will essay Simhaa’s role. However, no official confirmations have been made regarding the film or casting yet.
