Actress Lakshmi Manchu reveals a Tamil actress lost films post her divorce: 'You're thinking it's Samantha Ruth Prabhu...'

In an interview with Great Andhra, actress Lakshmi Manchu spoke about a south Indian superstar actress who has been losing out on films post her divorce. She revealed, “There is a superstar’s ex-wife who works here. She got divorced, and since then, even films that were once offered to her have been taken away. Oddu le amma, aina emana antaru emo (He might feel bad and say something), is what they tell her. She is waiting to do good work, and I don’t need to name her."

The actress added, “You’re thinking it’s Samantha. There’s not one superstar; around five to six of them have been divorced. And I am close to all of them. But my point is, a man will face something like that; his life will never change. But for a woman, once she marries, she has kids, has in-laws, she takes on a lot of responsibilities. No one gives us freedom; we have to take it on our own."

While Naga Chaitanya married Sobhita Dhulipala on 4 December last year, his ex-wife, actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu, finally spoke about their divorce and how she was subjected to several rumours and harsh criticism.

“Unfortunately, we live in a society which is so patriarchal in nature, that anytime something goes wrong, a woman gets subjected to… I’m not saying men don’t, men do, but a woman gets subjected to a lot more judgment and a lot more shaming, not just online, even in real life,”  Samantha told Galatta India.

“Many things were said about me that were absolutely untrue. But what held me back, I remember having this conversation with myself when things were really, really crappy and they were really, really… absolute lies were being spread. And there were many times when I wanted to come out and say, this is not true, let me tell you the truth,” she added.
