Almost two decades ago, the elite club of Rs 100 crore was inaugurated by Bollywood with Aamir Khan starrer Ghajini. However, soon we witnessed the budget of the film going above Rs 100 crore followed by megastars charging this mammoth amount as their remuneration. While biggies like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Akshay Kumar, Rajinikanth and Prabhas often grab headlines for their staggering fee. There is a megastar, who earned Rs 275 crore for a project, which was also bankrolled by him. We are talking about Aamir Khan and his 2016 blockbuster Dangal. Well, with the paycheque of Rs 275 crore, he became the highest-paid actor ever in the history of Indian cinema. With almost Rs 2000 crores, the biographical sports drama is the highest Indian grosser at the global box office.
However, the actor faced tough time after that as his both films Thugs of Hindostan and Laal Singh Chaddha tanked at the box office. While Aamir Khan has always been a box office trendsetter by inaugurating the Rs 100 crore, Rs 200 crore, Rs 250 crore, Rs 300 crore and Rs 350 crore clubs with Ghajini, 3 Idiots, Dhoom 3, PK, and Dangal , his last two films Thugs of Hindostan and Laal Singh Chaddha failed to impress the audience. However, the latter garnered appreciation from fans when it arrived on the OTT platform. The actor is now busy with the remake of a Spanish movie Campeones aka Champions. The actor will bankroll the sports drama. While earlier Salman Khan was on the board to play the lead role, the reports suggest that he opted out of the project due to date issues and now Aamir Khan will himself play the lead protagonist. The film will be helmed by RS Prasanna of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan fame.
