Aamir Khan has broken silence on being an Indian Muslim in a recent interview and said, “I am proud to be an Indian and a Muslim. I don’t consider these terrorists as Islamic people, I don’t even consider them as Muslims.
Khan, who is gearing up for Sitaare Zameen Par, finally addressed the backlash he faced when his picture with Türkiye President Erdogan went viral during Operation Sindoor.
Speaking on Aap Ki Adaalat, the actor said, “Turkey did a very wrong thing, and every Indian has been hurt by that. A few years ago, there was an earthquake in Turkey. The Indian government was the first to help them then.”
Khan added, “At that time, even our government didn’t know, just like I didn’t when I went to meet Erdogan, that they’d do this to us seven years later. We extended our hand in friendship and helped them during a crisis, and this is what they do to us?”
The picture that went viral was from 2017 and Aamir Khan clarified saying, “Our government was also supporting Turkey at that time.”
In the same interview, the actor revealed, “When the film was released, Disney was one of the producers; they presented it. Pakistan’s censor had asked them to remove the Indian flag and the Indian national anthem from the scene where Geeta Phogat wins a match.”
