Aamir Khan who is gearing up for Sitaare Zameen Par has made a revelation not many would be aware of. He was the first choice for Ashutosh Gowariker’s 2004 Swades and not Shah Rukh Khan. Here’s why the actor said no.
Khan said, “I found the narration very boring. I had said this to Ashu when he narrated the story to me. In fact, I’ll tell you Ashu narrated the story to me when we were making Lagaan. It was titled Kaveri Amma then.”
The actor added, “I had liked the story very much. I said we’d make that one after Lagaan. After Lagaan released, we made Ashu sit with a writer. AKP (Aamir Khan Productions) was producing it.”
“When he asked me how I liked it, I said I want to tell you my first reaction first. I said, ‘I got bored. It’s very important for you to hear this reaction. What you’re trying to say is very correct, noble, and important, but if you say it in such a boring manner… I got bored, I don’t know about everyone else,” the Lagaan actor further revealed.
When SRK rejected Lagaan
SRK once said, “Ashutosh offered me Lagaan at a time when we both could not find a producer. I was not into production then.”
SRK in and as KING
At the Locarno Film Festival, SRK was quoted saying, ““The next film that I’m doing King, I have to start working on it. (I have to) Lose some weight, stretch a little so my groin doesn’t get caught when I’m doing action. It’s painful and hurtful. I have a bag full of icing machines. So you keep doing it.”
He added, “It’s the worst thing to see me on sets after action. I look really cool in the film. After that I’m tired, somebody is pressing my back, I can’t walk, and then suddenly you see people, and you give flying kisses.”
