Aamir Khan is gearing up for his next release Sitaare Zameen Par that’s the remake of the Spanish film Campeones. After Laal Singh Chaddha, this is another remake by the actor. He has been giving a lot of interviews for the promotions and in one of them, spoke about his ex-wife Kiran Rao.
Aamir revealed, “I’m a very loving person, but I had major red flags. One of them was how I handled hurt or anger, I would emotionally shut down. Whether it was Reena or Kiran, if I felt deeply upset, I would stop communicating altogether.”
He added, “They would try to talk, apologise, make things right, but I’d shut them out completely. It was like hitting a wall. That level of ego, where you’re unwilling to come down from your ‘moral high horse,’ is dangerous.”
The actor revealed some more details and said, “She finally broke down and asked me what she had done wrong. She said she felt cut off from my life. I wanted to comfort her, to say ‘It’s okay,’ but I couldn’t. The words just wouldn’t come out. That’s when I realized how unforgiving I had become.”
Khan continued saying, “I wasn’t yelling, I wasn’t reacting, I just went silent. And silence can be far more painful than shouting. It’s much harder for your partner to handle.”
Khan made his Bollywood debut in 1988 with Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak at the age of 23. 37 years later, his mother who’s 90 years old is making her acting debut with his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par which releases in cinemas on June 20. The actor has even spoken about it in a statement that has gone viral.
Khan was quoted saying, “Normally, Ammi doesn’t say she wants to come to my shoot. So, I don’t know what she felt, but the morning of the song shoot, Ammi called and asked, ‘Aap kahan shooting kar rahe hain? Humko bhi aana hai shooting pe aaj’ (Where are you shooting today, I also want to come).’“
