A Minecraft Movie has been one of the most anticipated movies to come out of Hollywood ever since it was announced. It is based on the iconic video game of the same name. There has been an instance when a movie was made out of an iconic game called G.I. Joe. That was a critical and commercial disappointment. But fans had their expectations out of this. So far the reviews have been mixed to positive. It has to do with the monumental excitement and anticipation. It has to be 10 on 10. Even nine on 10 would not suffice. And the film has its moments of entertainment and excitement.
It combines live action with VFX and animation and Jason Momoa is clearly having the time of his life playing this character. His straight-faced humor provides a lot of fun. But the film is not just about Hollow fun. It is also about fulfilling dreams and facing challenges in the process. It is not only driven by empty action, but a lot of emotions as well. And for all of those who have seen the trailer will understand that the director has given it his all. The cinematography by Enrique Chediak brims with ambition and passion.
But the question here is, how many takers this movie will have? As much as it entertains, sometimes you feel that this would have been a much better experience had it released at least a decade before. With content and cinema changing and evolving after every few months, this does not seem to be that film, which will be remembered for long. It is stuck somewhere between fun and forgettable. Having said that, there have been a lot of terrible movies in cinemas of late, so A Minecraft Movie is the less evil in the crowd. Now, take your pick!
