A survey conducted by EMA Partnersfor Times of India has found that of the top 10 women earners in India, only three are professionals. All other seven are part of the promoter group or inheritors. Interestingly, of these seven, four are from the Reddy family of the Apollo group.

As per the survey, the top earning woman is Kavery Kalanithi of Sun TV. In 2012, her pay was Rs 64 crore, the survey has showed. Urvi Piramal of Peninsula Land and Vinita Singhania of JK Lakshmi Cement are a distant second. Both of them earn just Rs 8 crore.
Renu Sud Karnad of Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC), with a salary of Rs 6 crore, is at the fourth slot. She is also the top earning woman professional in the country.
Then come the four Reddys – Preetha, Suneeta, Sangita, and Shobhana. Preetha Reddy is the managing director of Apollo Hospitals, Suneeta its joint managing director and Sangita an executive director. Shobhana Reddy is executive director - health insurance and new businesses initiatives of the hospitals chain. All of them earn Rs 5 crore.
Chanda Kochchar of ICICI Bank, who is the next professional in the list, also earns Rs 5 crore. Next is also a professional, Vinita Bali of Britannia. She earns Rs 4 crore, as per the survey.
