LinkedUp: Now find romance, not just job, using LinkedIn

Until now, LinkedIn was probably the most boring social networking site. Even if you find somebody who is interesting and well established in the professional world, you can’t connect with them because LinkedIn will ask you if you know somebody who knows that person. Also, you are there to look for jobs, not for love. Right? Besides that, with those ‘corporate’ mugshots, finding a ‘date-able person’ is a really really tough task!

But, LinkedIn just became cool and how! Just like Tinder, LinkedIn has started a new app called LinkedUpwhich is “smart new way to date” and findpotential mates by using filters like job industry, age, proximity and gender.

The dating app will use your photo and personal information from your LinkedIn account. But the good part is, you can even upload other pictures of yours since your photos on LinkedIn are bound to be boring and too professional.

To use the app, you have to log in withLinkedIn.The biggest relief is LinkedUp promises never to post anything to LinkedIn. Just like Tinder, the app will ask you to (anonymously) “like” or “pass” your LinkedIn contacts. If two users like each other they will be prompted to chat.

The app is only compatible only with iPhones and other iOS devices. And, it’s free.

Max Fischer, the 28-year-old founder of the app and a former investment banker, told Wall Street Journal in an interview that he believes the LinkedIn data “is going to result in much higher-quality matches.”
