Eager to cast their vote, about 69percent of the people residing in the national capital havescrapped plans to take advantage of holidays next week andhead out of town, according to an Assocham survey.
Most offices are likely to be closed on Tuesday, April 8,due to Ram Navami, and on Thursday, April 10, when polling isscheduled in Delhi. By taking leave on two days – Wednesdayand Friday – many office-goers can get six straight days of holidays, including the weekend.

“Those days have gone when election day was treated as aday of leisure. Delhiites who love to escape the capital for ashort trip would not like to skip their voting plans as theyare more enthusiastic about the political process,” AssochamSecretary General D S Rawat said.
The survey of 3,800 Delhiites between the ages of 18 and55 found that almost seven in 10 respondents said politicalengagement is an effective solution to the nation’s problems.Most respondents also highlighted corruption as their topconcern, followed by the state of the economy.
Almost 78 percent of the respondents cited corruption,price rise and women’s safety as the issues worrying them themost, besides the current economic situation and lack of jobsafety.
