Recently, an analysis by the Association for Democratic Reforms and National Election Watch noted that close to 70 percent of all the candidates fielded by the Congress Party and up to 50 percent of the candidates of the Bharatiya Janta Party are Indian rupee millionaires (crorepatis). But, what comes as a surprise now is that in Mumbai, many of them are hardly educated at all.
According to a Times of India report today, 45 out of the 116 candidates contesting from Mumbai have completed their studies only till the Xth standard. Some of them didn’t even make it to that level.

The report notes that just 33 are graduates, while a mere 19 completed a post graduate degree.
Twelve candidates contesting from Mumbai have assets worth more than one crore rupees, but have only studied till SSC level or less.
AAP has the city’s most educated candidates contesting in the elections, while the BJP has the least number of educated candidates.
While the Congress, NCP and BJP have one candidate each with a post-graduate degree, AAP has five, notes the report. Read the ToI report here.
