While we were wondering all this while what the Aam Aadmi Party’s economic policy really is, the poll manifesto seems to shed some light on it.
A word cloud of the party’s economic agenda shows that ’education’ and ‘development’ are the two focus points.
The AAP’s poll manifesto promises education to “all sections of society, irrespective of their ability to pay.” The party also said that they will appoint adequate numbers of qualified teachers on a regular basis through a transparent selection process. The manifesto said that the teachers will be compensated adequately, continuously trained and made accountable. The manifesto also said that there will be special provision for girls and socially disadvantaged communities.
The manifesto said that the party envisions a balanced development model for India that fosters a dynamic, equitable and ecologically sustainable economy. The party said that it believes in economic development and isagainst the current policies of crony capitalism. “We will take all steps to eliminate crony capitalism,” the manifesto read.
The party emphasised so much on the word ‘development’ that almost every third sentence in their manifesto had the word. At this stage, it isn’t clear how AAP will fund the development and educational programmes they espouse. We just hope if it does come to power, there is some development.
