Davos: Half a dozen members of the ‘Occupy’ movement have attempted to enter the high-security venue of the World Economic Forum but were turned away by organisers.
The activists said Friday they had come peacefully to claim their entry passes and those of “seven billion other people” wanting to take part in the annual meeting of global leaders in Davos, Switzerland.
The forum organisers denied them entry but said the protesters had been invited to a separate event outside the main venue.
UN human rights chief Navi Pillay said on Friday that Occupy activists and more young people should have been invited to take part in debates inside the main venue where political and business leaders are discussing the state of the world.
