IT dept asks private sector to file TDS by 15 July

The Income Tax department asked private sector employers to file their tax deducted at source (TDS) statement for the quarter ending 30 June, on or before 15 July. Besides, government employers (deductors) will have to file their TDS statement on or before 30 July, the finance ministry said in a statement. “All deductors other than Government deductors must file their quarterly TDS statement for the quarter ending 30th June 2012, on or before 15 July, and Government deductors must file their statement on or before 30 July, 2012,” the statement said.

The Income Tax department asked private sector employers to file their tax deducted at source (TDS) statement for the quarter ending 30 June, on or before 15 July.

Besides, government employers (deductors) will have to file their TDS statement on or before 30 July, the finance ministry said in a statement. “All deductors other than Government deductors must file their quarterly TDS statement for the quarter ending 30th June 2012, on or before 15 July, and Government deductors must file their statement on or before 30 July, 2012,” the statement said.

It further said the deductors would have to choose the relevant form and quote correct Permanent Account Number (PAN) against all entries. “Non-quoting of PAN or TAN in TDS statements or delay in filing of TDS statements may lead to levy of penalty,” the statement added.

TDS certificates for deductions on income other than salary income (Form 16A) for the quarter ending 30 June should be issued on or before 30 July, 2012, it added.
