Despite almost every critic panning the third installment of the Dhoom franchise, Yash Raj Films may just laugh all the way to bank with expectations that Dhoom:3 could rake in up to Rs 200 crore.

The Hindu Business Line reported that thanks to the huge buzz surrounding the film, advance booking for tickets of the film is very high for the weekend and the following week.

An Economic Times reportquoted PVR theatres as saying that with 404 screens it had sold 1,40,000 tickets in advance booking to rake in more than 3.5 crore in sales for the opening weekend. This despite tickets costing up to Rs 800 for the Imax format.

And though it opened on a Friday, a working day on this occasion, it’s expected to be the biggest non-holiday first day collections and is expected to beat the Ranbir Kapoor starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’s record of Rs 19.5 crore quite easily.

The highest grossing film on opening day was Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger, which grossed 31.23 crore on the first day. Two of the actor’s other film, Bodyguard and Dabangg 2, are also among the top five grossing films on opening day, reports the Economic Times.

If Dhoom:3 crosses the 200 crore mark, it would also become the highest grossing installment of the franchise with the first installment grossing Rs 75 crore, and the second one garnering Rs 150 crore.
