Tulip Telecom Acquires Datacentre SPV

Tulip Telecom Acquires Datacentre SPV

Tulip Telecom Limited (Tulip), the enterprise data services provider, has acquired a datacentre facility in Bangalore- its fifth in India. Owned by SADA IT Parks Private Limited (SADA), a special purpose vehicle, it was acquired at a value of Rs 230 crore. The new Bangalore facility will be owned and operated through a wholly owned subsidiary of Tulip named Tulip Data Center Private Ltd, the company said in a filing.

Spread across an area of 9 lakh sq ft, the Tier 4 Datacentre will be set up in Bangalore with a total investment of Rs 900 crore spread over a period of 3 years. After the completion, this will become India’s largest and the world’s third largest single site datacentre, claims the company.

“Our new datacentre will help meet the rising customer requirements for co-location, managed hosting and data storage and a suite of other complementary services including managed security services and storage requirements of our customers from across the globe,” said Sanjay Jain, CEO, Tulip Telecom Ltd.

“This acquisition will provide us a platform to roll out numerous other services including Cloud Computing, SAAS and Managed Application Services,” said Lt. Col. HS Bedi, VSM, Chairman and Managing Director, Tulip Telecom Ltd.

The new eco-friendly datacentre has state-of-the-art infrastructure and can house up to 16,000 racks, backed by up to 100 MW Power supply through 5X20 MW substations and will be able to host over 2,000 technical and managerial workforce. The facility would be ready to be utilised in less than 6 months.
