The grand finale of TechSparks 2010, a pan-India hunt for innovative product technology start-ups, concluded with five promising product-tech start-ups being chosen as the winners.
The competition started in March 2010 and had participation from 200 innovative product start-up companies out of which 17 were short-listed. Pellucid Networks, ArrayShield, VMukti Solutions, Sporting Minds Technology and Icreate made it to the top five. TechSparks 2010, the flagship event of Yourstory.in, was held in Bangalore.
The winners of TechSparks 2010 will be awarded with customised solutions to meet their growth challenges, funding, marketing support and nationwide visibility.
The competition was judged by a diverse and distinguished jury.
Contestants were judged on three fundamental criteria: Product start-ups with defensible technologies, viability of the startup (market opportunity, competition, etc.), and the disruptive role the start-up plays in the IT landscape as well as the unique value proposition. Software products, mobile products, cloud computing, and Web 2.0 remained the focus areas for TechSparks 2010.
“India has traditionally been perceived as an outsourcing hub. Our objective is to change this perception by providing a launch pad for talented innovators. TechSparks 2010 is an attempt in this direction,” said Shradha Sharma, Founder, Yourstory.in.
A panel discussion on ‘Product Technology: Investment, Opportunities and Challenges’ was also held as part of the programme.
