Tata Consultancy Services, the IT services, business solutions and outsourcing firm announced that it had won a contract for establishing and managing the State Data Centre (SDC) for the state of Puducherry. The SDC, which was earlier inaugurated by Sachin Pilot, Honorable Minister of State for Communications & Information Technology, Government of India is ready for commissioning.
The SDC will enhance the infrastructure required to consolidate state-level applications like Commercial Taxes Application, State Service Delivery Gateway, e-District, etc. and will be interoperable with the existing infrastructure. These services will be rendered by the Puducherry government through a common delivery platform supported by core Connectivity Infrastructure such as State Wide Area Network (SWAN) and Common Service Center (CSC) connectivity extended up to village level.
“This datacentre will prove to be a milestone in the IT enablement of the state. The Puducherry e-Governance Society (PeGS) under the Directorate of Information Technology is committed to the development of the state and has completed several assignments,” said RP Pal IAS, Secretary – IT, Government of Puducherry.
“We are delighted to partner with Puducherry to establish a reliable and efficient State Data Center (SDC). Apart from Puducherry, TCS is implementing datacentres for various central government agencies as well as the Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh State Data Centers under the National e-Governance Plan,” said Tanmoy Chakrabarty, Head and Vice President, Government, TCS.
