TATA ELXSI Adopts Microsoft's UC Services

Tata Elxsi, the embedded product design and professional services arm of the Tata Group, adopted Microsoft’s Unified Communication (UC) services for better collaboration among their employees. Under Microsoft’s UC bouquet of services, Tata Elxsi has deployed Office 365 E1 including Exchange Online, Lync Online, Sharepoint Online, and Office Professional Plus.

Deployment of UC services for Tata Elxsi was the need of the hour as better collaboration is a necessity in their global operations with an international customer base and a strong offshore services business model. Currently, Office 365 products will serve 4000 users and the quantity can be scaled up in the future as the company expects robust enhancement in their headcount. The new Unified Communication services give Tata Elxsi’s employees the ability to communicate better with each other. This will support real time communication between employees, customers and partners enabling faster decision making and greater efficiency. Such tools are pivotal in the future expansion of the company as most of the business deals are global in nature and require intensive communication and collaboration among functions, teams and individuals across geographies and development centres.

B S Lokeshwaran, Vice President – Information Technology, Tata Elxsi said, “We wanted robust Unified Communication services which could enhance the communication among our employees based out of various parts of the world. Microsoft Office 365 catered to our requirements that are pivotal for our business in the long run. Our employees find these services very user friendly and it reduces the time and increases productivity manifold.”

Ramkumar Pichai, General Manager - Microsoft Office Division, Microsoft India, said, “We are happy to support Tata Elxsi by providing our unique bouquet of UC services. With Office 365, employees can work together more easily from anywhere on any device, while collaborating with others inside and outside the organisation in a simple and highly secure manner.”

Tata Elxsi chose Microsoft’s UC services over Google as they found the services more secure, compelling and economical. Microsoft’s products are designed to cater to the specific needs of various organisations and thus have an edge over other similar prevailing technologies in the market. Microsoft Office 365 is a commercial set of products plus services from Microsoft. It includes the Microsoft Office suite of desktop applications and hosted versions of Microsoft’s Server products (including Exchange Server, SharePoint Server, and Lync Server), delivered and accessed over the Internet - in effect, the next version of Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS).
