Spice Televentures, part of the $1.5 billion Spice Group, and Spanco Telesystems and Solutions have joined forces to create an onshore domestic BPO in India. The JV will see the merger of three domestic BPOs in the onshore space comprising Omnia BPO Services (a Spice Televentures subsidiary), Bharat BPO and Spanco BPO Services. Spice Televentures and Spanco Telesystems have signed an MoU to execute the above project.
The new entity will provide voice-based back office and contact centre services to clients encompassing customers across diverse segments including BFSI, telecom, travel and e-governance in India. The JV will see an investment upwards of Rs 500 crore in growing its presence across India over the next two years. From having 7,000 seats in 18 centres spread across 10 cities including NCR Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and others, it plans to take it to 15,000 seats by March 2010 with a focus on Tier 2 and 3 cities, going forward.
The joint venture currently employs around 10,000 people and is expected to grow to around 15,000 employees by the end of the current financial year i.e. March 2009. The current utilised capacity is 4000 seats, which is expected to ramp up to 7000 seats by March 2009 and 15,000 by end of financial year 2010.
