Spanco Telesystems has announced the launch of ‘Project Sarthak’ in association with SEED. The programme is focused towards enabling sustainable livelihood options for the underprivileged rural/urban youth by providing skills training and access to employment opportunities in the ever-growing services sector. Under Project Sarthak, Spanco along with SEED will be setting up BPO training hubs across the country, the first of which has been set up in Gurgaon, Haryana.
The BPO training hubs established under Project Sarthak will focus on imparting vocational competencies to the beneficiaries and further access to employment opportunities. Each beneficiary will be assigned a mentor from Spanco for a period of six months and the training will involve guest lectures from industry and potential employers. The training will cover basic computer skills, call centre operations, personality development and life skills, spoken English and communication skills, basic management skills and business ethics and values. After a completion of six months, each beneficiary will be issued a certificate and provided adequate placement support. The Sarthak team will also regularly conduct post-placement follow up with the beneficiaries to ensure continuous support. Employers’ feedback will also be monitored regularly for improvement in curriculum and methodology.
“Project Sarthak is one such initiative that will help address the primary concerns of the rural/urban youth. This project is in sync with the Spanco Group CSR philosophy of focusing on imparting education that enables sustainable livelihood”, said Kapil Puri, chairman, Spanco Telesystems.
Romira Roy, founder member, SEED, said, “Project Sarthak is the first of its kind intervention in India where rural/urban youth from underprivileged sections of the society will be given specific skills training that will enable them to capitalise on the opportunities in the booming service sector economy”.
