SonicWALL has announced that it has expanded the capabilities of its SSL-VPN series with new industry certifications and feature enhancements that claim to make remote access even more secure and simple for businesses of all sizes.
SonicWALL Firmware Version 2.1 for its SSL-VPN 2000 and 4000 appliances adds drag-and-drop functionality in the new Java version of the file shares applet, enabling users to transfer multiple files and folders through a single command. This new firmware version provides LDAP authentication capabilities for multiple organisational units, and offers access control based on both existing Active Directory group and RADIUS group memberships.
SonicWALL NetExtender technology, an ActiveX client downloadedvia the Web browser, has been enhanced in Firmware v2.1 to include an MSI stand-alone installer that allows NetExtender to be deployed through Windows Active directory and supports Windows 2000, XP, 2003 and Vista.
SonicWALL also announced its version 2.0 firmware for the SSL-VPN 200 appliance. New features in this version include tokenless two factor authentication, improved bookmark policy options, enhancements to NetExtender’s domain suffix support, script execution at connection/disconnection, and custom port designation.
SonicWALL’s SSL-VPN 2000 and 4000 appliances have received certification from RSA. The appliances have also been certified for VPNC, the international trade association for manufacturers of the VPN market.
