Linksys has announced its plans to release a broad range of products, tailor made for the home networking segment, as well as the SME segment.
“Our vision encompasses the ‘Connected Home’, where electronics will connect onto a home network, established using Linksys’ products, and be available to all PC’s connected to the network,” said Sanjeev Gupta, regional sales director, North and South Asia, Linksys.
The new product line includes the Linksys WAP54G, a Wireless G Access Point, the WRT300N, a wireless router which uses 802.11n technology, the WRT54GC, an All-in One Internet sharing router based on 802.11g technology, the WVC200, a wireless-G Internet camera with audio, the WPS54G, a wireless-G print server, the WGA54G, a wireless-G game adapter, and the WMB54G, a wireless-G Music Bridge.
“With broadband penetration in India breaking new barriers everyday, the connected home is fast becoming a reality for the average Indian. The solution overall is cost-effective as well. A wireless router can cost anywhere between Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000 depending on the range needed,” he continued.
Linksys is also known for its routers that cater to the SOHO segment. “Small business can easily connect wirelessly, since Linksys offers them these solutions at a good price. Small businesses can use products like the Linksys WVC200 which is an IP enabled audio/video camera. Once the camera is set up, it can be accessed over the internet, enabling the office to be remotely monitored. Users can also be alerted by e-mail or phone when unexpected movement has occurred after hours, eliminating the need to actively monitor the camera.”
Linksys also introduced the controversial iPhone (Read Linksys, not Apple), which is a VoIP enabled phone. This device will enable VoIP based technologies such as Skype, directly on the iPhone.
The linksys iPhone enables internet services, allowing users to know when their contacts are available for calls and offers access to personal content such as music, movies, and live video camera feeds.
