Sharda University Students To Have Smartcards

Sharda University in Greater Noida, established under the aegis of the Sharda Group of Institutions (SGI), has launched a special and convenient smartcard for its students. It will be a multi-purpose, all-in-one card. The students of Sharda University may use the smartcard as an identity, banking, library, lab, health, mess, fees, academic record, sports, Internet, attendance and examination entrance card.

Dr R P Singh, V-C, Sharda University, said, “We are working on a ‘University Beyond Boundaries’ assumption, which aims at providing world-class academic facilities to students. Till now, students had to use different cards for different facilities. Now the smartcard will save the students’ time and energy. Also, there will be less chances of confusion at the administrative level with the use of just one card for all purposes.”

There is a centralised system on the Sharda University campus that provides a unique identification to each and every student. With the help of biometric technology, the smartcard will work on the basis of the unique identification of every student. The smartcard will cost Rs 250 and it will look similar to an ATM or credit card. A US company will manufacture the smartcards for Sharda University students.
