Seagate has announced a new ‘Cloud Systems and Solutions group’ that will “which will deliver the world’s most scalable, secure, efficient, and cost-effective Cloud service architectures and solutions.” The company claims that it is now the first company to deliver hard drives, solid-state hybrid drives, SSDs, external storage solutions, recovery services, cloud services and fully integrated cloud systems and solutions.
Seagate’s CSS product update will include offerings in four focus areas: Integrated High Performance Computing solutions; Scalable, modular components and solutions; Custom systems for OEMs; and Cloud Backup/Restore, Disaster Recovery and Rapid Archive Storage solutions.

The Seagate ClusterStor 9000 solution is a fully integrated Lustre-based scale-out solution designed for HPC and Big Data customers. The solution delivers 50 percent higher performance than previous ClusterStor platforms. In addition, the new Seagate EVault Enterprise Backup and Recovery Appliance now accommodates up to 100TB of usable capacity.
The new Nytro XP6302 card delivers high PCIe flash capacity. The second expansion to the Nytro portfolio the XP6209 card adds a new 1.86TB capacity point doubling the capacity. The new 1.86TB SKU addresses customers’ needs for increased capacity density in low-profile and thermally optimised hyper-converged designs.
Seagate unveiled its eighth-generation enterprise hard drive portfolio spanning from high performance-optimised storage with 15K and 10K-rpm drives to the capacity-optimised nearline drive - all in a 2.5-inch form factor.
New drives introduced include the Seagate Enterprise Capacity HDD – the world’s first 2TB 2.5 enterprise-class nearline drive, Seagate Enterprise Performance 15K HDD, and the Seagate Enterprise Performance 10K HDD Capacity.
All mission critical drives now feature Seagate’s TurboBoost enhanced caching technology establishing the benchmark as the world’s fastest hard drives. All enterprise drive families are now integrated with the latest in SAS technology, offering 12Gb/s throughput to and from the host. The new drives offer Seagate Secure self-encrypting drive technology, Instant Secure Erase functionality, PowerChoice on-demand power savings, and RAID Rebuild.
