Radware, a provider of integrated application delivery solutions for business-smart networking, and RSA, the security division of EMC, have announced a technology partnership to expand an integrated crimeware blocking network designed to provide stronger fraud protection for end users against both information and identity theft as well as the spread of malware.

Today, phishing and Trojan campaigns are commonly terminated within hours of detection. However, in the interim they still manage to collect private user information and pose a variety of risks, including fraud. Standard signature-based solutions rely on periodic signature updates, which can make them too slow in reacting to such campaigns.

Radware and RSA have joined forces to build a proactive defense at the network layer designed to protect end-users against cybercrime. RSA will supply real-time online threat information identified by the RSA FraudAction Anti-Phishing and Anti-Trojan Service to Radware’s DefensePro real-time Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) and DoS protection solution. This leverage will enable Radware DefensePro to proactively block Trojans, phishing attacks and the spread of malware at the network level using real-time signatures at one location. As a result, Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs), ISPs and any organisation that provides security at the network level will now be able to offer enhanced anti-Trojan and anti-phishing protection to their own customers, enhancing value through to the end user.

“This new phishing and Trojan protection capability we are presenting in the IPS market takes existing IP and Web reputation services into a more advanced stage to fight emerging threats. Working with RSA enables Radware to leverage its network security solution for MSSPs by turning RSA feeds into real-time signatures employed by Radware’s DefensePro and to help proactively prevent information and identity theft without human intervention,” said Avi Chesla, vice president of Security at Radware.

“Forming this technology partnership with Radware demonstrates how inventive collaboration can further extend our ability to protect customers against escalating online threats. This will bring more value to a broader set of organisations by integrating on a wider scale within the information infrastructure,” said Sam Curry, vice president of Product Management at RSA. “We must continue to grow a stronger security ecosystem in order to become a more organised entity against the vast underground network of fraudsters.”
