Quest Software has announced a new release of vWorkspace, a single virtualisation solution for application delivery and desktop deployments. The new release includes major functionality enhancements including EOP Xtream to speed WAN performance, and integration with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Remote Desktop Services to automate deployment and administration, and simplify use.
“Quest is very excited to deliver a solution enabling more widespread use of virtual and session-based desktops through our EOP Xtream technology for accelerating WAN and Internet connections and the integration with Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Connection Broker,” said Simon Pearce, Vice President and General Manager, Desktop Virtualization Group, Quest Software. “Our solution on top of Windows Server delivers outstanding customer value at a highly competitive price point. Acceptance of desktop virtualization by remote users and branch office workers is critical to the continued adoption of virtual desktops, and we believe the enhancements in vWorkspace 7.1 show remarkable improvements by minimizing resource requirements and enriching user desktop interaction. Our integration efforts with Microsoft deliver a significant reduction in administration costs, ease adoption of Windows 7 deployments, and help Microsoft customers get more value from their platform investments.”
“Customers understand the far-reaching business benefits of a desktop virtualisation strategy and are looking for solutions that offer a high degree of performance and manageability, while leveraging their existing investment in Microsoft technologies,” said Chandra Shekaran, General Manager, Remote Desktop Virtualization, Server and Tools Business at Microsoft Corp. “We are working with Quest to expand the capabilities of Windows Server in an integrated solution for a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and to provide our joint customers with excellent desktop and application deployment choices.”
