Quest Software has launched PowerGUI Pro, its graphical PowerShell administration console. The PowerGUI freeware has helped IT learn and manage PowerShell since 2007 and, now, with PowerGUI Pro, administrators can manage PowerShell from mobile devices, protect scripts with integrated version control, and gain access to Quest technical support.
In the past three years, the PowerGUI community has increased the adoption of PowerShell, using the freeware to create scripts with the click of a mouse; analyse and troubleshoot more advanced scripts with an integrated rich script editor and debugger; and create pre-packaged groups of PowerShell scripts called PowerPacks.
With its advanced administration capabilities, PowerGUI Pro is taking the benefits of the freeware to the next level. Organisations need to ensure that end users have access to information 24x7. While administrators generally are not in the office 24x7, they now can use a Web browser with MobileShell to troubleshoot remotely from any mobile device, server or client. Placing tested and approved scripts into production is critical. With ScriptControl, PowerGUI Pro users can create best practices for PowerShell scripting by testing scripts and reviewing the changes that have been made.
