Qlik, a data discovery company, has introduced Qlik Sense – the first device-independent, self-service visualisation and discovery app. Qlik Sense has been designed with the notion that every knowledge worker can rapidly create visually rich analytics from any device to explore theories, prove hypothesis, or discover new trends that can change the trajectory of their business, the company said.
“With the launch of Qlik Sense, we are truly disrupting the traditional BI market, by empowering anyone in the organisation to easily create dynamic visualisations to explore their data and uncover meaningful insights. At the same time, Qlik Sense provides IT with the enterprise governance they need,” said Phillip Beniac, Regional Vice President, Qlik, Asia Pacific and Japan.

Qlik Sense does not require a “build-and-publish” approach, since every user can simply drag-and-drop to build or extend their visual analysis. Smart search lets business users type words or numbers to begin their analysis of the entire data set. Smart visualisations provide visual cues that help novices to explore patterns with the visualisation by updating and highlighting new information and associations based on selections. Visualisations are automatically rendered to be viewed on multiple devices and screen sizes, the company explained.
Data storytelling allows people to capture and share their insights at a point in time in presentation format. Users can add commentary and narrative and drill down directly from the presentation to Qlik Sense as needed.
The architecture of Qlik Sense allows new capabilities for governance and manageability to support workgroup and distributed enterprise environments. Open, standard APIs support web app development for complex applications, allowing organisations to use Qlik Sense seamlessly with other technologies, in new ways.
