Panda Security Offers Network Perimeter Protection Appliances For SMEs

Panda Security has announced the availability of its 2010 line of unified threat management (UTM) appliances, Panda GateDefender Integra, and Panda GateDefender Performa. Both products offer proactive perimeter security that requires little to no maintenance from small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Panda GateDefender Integra and GateDefender Performa benefit from Panda Security’s proprietary Collective Intelligence technology that detects and analyses threats automatically, resulting in greater speed and better protection against Internet threats. Thanks to Collective Ingelligence, the appliances obtain regular digital signature file updates from the cloud every 90 minutes to track new malware and support the Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) and Web filter. Anti-spam fingerprinting is updated via Collective Intelligence every minute.

Panda GateDefender SB is a unified threat management (UTM) device that offers a simple ‘plug and forget’ installation - ideal for organisations of up to 50 employees. The product’s Web-based console has a simple graphic interface and offers total network perimeter protection.

The new Panda GateDefender Performa is a scalable, load-balancing perimeter security device with improved anti-spam capabilities based on enhanced functionality that protects against new threats such as backscatter (a side-effect of spam), viruses and worms, where e-mail servers send bounce messages to end users. It blocks all types of malware, spam, undesirable content and other Internet threats before they enter an organisation’s network. The malware detection ratio is improved in the new GateDefender Performa due to incremental PavSig, which only downloads malware signature patches instead of the complete files. Additionally, local update mode enables malware signature downloads from the Panda Server without an Internet connection.
