Oracle's SPARC T4 Server Momentum Expands Demand For SPARC Systems

Highlighting the rapidly expanding demand for its SPARC servers, Oracle has announced it has shipped thousands of midrange SPARC T4 servers with Oracle Solaris, making it one of the fastest ramping server products in Oracle history.

The Oracle SPARC T4 has been adopted by more than 800 customers across industries including Indian customers like TCS and Wipro. Other customers to adopt this include BBVA, Core Services Corporation, Emerson, iXtend, Motorola Solutions, Portugal Telecom, Qualcomm, SirsiDynix, SkyOnline, SuperValu Telefonica de Espana, United Telephone Mutual Aid Corporation and Ziggo BV.

“Oracle’s SPARC T4 servers with Oracle Solaris provide a combination of performance, scalability and security that’s resonating with customers across the globe,” said Masood Heydari, senior vice president, hardware development, Oracle. “There’s tremendous momentum behind our SPARC T4 line and it’s clear that our ability to engineer hardware and software together is making SPARC T4 the clear choice for next generation datacentres.”

Designed to power enterprise and mission-critical applications on Oracle Solaris 10 or 11, the Oracle SPARC T4 enterprise server are engineered with Oracle’s complete software stack to enable customers consolidate multiple database and application tiers onto a single server, reduce system complexity, and improve utilisation.

“Oracle SPARC T4 server delivers higher performance over its predecessor as well as over other competing products” said Kapil Sood, Vice President, Systems, Oracle India.”Our customers can consolidate multiple mission critical database and application tiers onto a single server thus significantly reducing system complexity and lowering the total cost of ownership”
With Oracle Solaris 11, the first cloud OS, SPARC T4 server customers can take advantage of cloud-scale life cycle management with secure, fail-safe boot environments, safe roll-backs, 4x faster upgrades and 2.5x faster system re-boots.

In addition, Oracle’s SPARC T4 servers deliver better value and help reduce cost with extensive built-in capabilities, including integrated on-chip cryptographic acceleration, as well as Oracle VM Server for SPARC and Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center at no additional cost with systems support.

Oracle’s SPARC T4 servers are also available as part of Oracle Optimized Solutions, pre-tested, tuned and fully documented solutions that reduce costs and accelerate deployment times by up to 4.5x.
