In a quick Q&A, Annand Sarnaik, Chairman and MD - Glodyne Technoserve speaks to Biztech2.com on the contract bagged from the Government of Maharashtra. The contract is for providing a managed services model to the District of Gadhchiroli under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS). The scheme is now called, ‘Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.'
What are the particulars of Glodyne Technoserve’s NREGS contract for Gadhchiroli?
We have signed a five years- Build, Own, Operate, Transfer (BOOT) project with the Govt. of Maharashtra for Gadhchiroli in the initial phase. It’s on a managed services model. We will build an end-to-end technology platform for the Government and enable enrollment as well as digitisation of data. This will enable the beneficiaries to get the money in their respective accounts according to the set wage calculations.
How will technology provide an edge over manual processes?
The beneficiaries of NREGS are identified by UID compliant biometric analysis and this is done by the local panchayat. They will not be paid the apportioned wages unless they authorise themselves through the mandatory process of biometric analysis that is already digitised and de-duplicated in our central data centre. Subsequently, at the end of the day when the beneficiary leaves the workplace, he/she goes through the biometric process again.
Technology here helps in identifying the right beneficiary, unlike in manual processes where there have been instances of embezzlement in the Public Distribution System (PDS) and other schemes. This has been due to the vulnerability of those processes to be manipulated.
IT not only helps in identifying the right beneficiary but also enables the wage payment process through the banking channel. Glodyne Technoserve also ties up with the Bank for wage payments.
