NetApp & Hortonworks Announce Apache Hadoop Solutions For Big Data Analytics

Customers gained two new choices to deploy enterprise-ready Apache Hadoop solutions and solve their big data analytics requirements.

First, NetApp and Hortonworks entered a strategic partnership to develop and pretest joint Apache Hadoop solutions using Hortonworks Data Platform. These solutions will help customers simplify access to their data and gain deeper business insight to make the right decisions faster.

Second, NetApp unveiled the NetApp(R) Open Solution for Hadoop Rack, which combines network, compute, and storage resources for customers who need a ready-to-deploy enterprise Hadoop solution. The new solution bolsters NetApp’s existing Hadoop portfolio and gives customers greater choice and flexibility to deploy Hadoop in their enterprise.

Separately, NetApp today introduced enhanced data protection and simplified management capabilities to help customers accelerate their big data innovation on the NetApp E-Series platform. NetApp and Hortonworks will provide solutions built using Hortonworks Data Platform that offer customers breakthroughs in stability, management, and efficiency to enhance their enterprise.

The NetApp Open Solution for Hadoop Rack bolsters NetApp’s portfolio of big data solutions on its E-Series platform. NetApp big data solutions are built on NetApp E-Series and Data ONTAP(R) platforms to efficiently process, analyse, manage, and access data at scale to meet customers’ analytics, bandwidth, and content needs across a diverse number of industries, including oil and gas, financial services, media and entertainment, high-performance computing, and public sector.
