NASSCOM, well-recognised as the ‘voice’ of the Indian IT-BPO industry, has announced the appointment of Dr Kamlesh Bajaj as CEO, Data Security Council of India (DSCI) and as the head of its security initiatives. This means that Dr Bajaj will be responsible for providing direction to NASSCOM’s ongoing security initiatives and activities in addition to assuming the office of the CEO of DSCI.
The DSCI, operating under the aegis of NASSCOM at an arm’s length, is a self-regulatory initiative in data security and privacy protection.
Announcing this appointment, Som Mittal, president, NASSCOM said, “Dr Bajaj’s rich experience will add immense value to this effort by NASSCOM and the industry. The DSCI has covered considerable ground since its inception and we see Dr Bajaj’s experience contributing significantly to taking this to the next level, as the organisation grows and takes up additional initiatives and responsibilities”.
Shyamal Ghosh, chairman, DSCI said, “With his hands-on experience in this field for several years, Dr Bajaj will be an invaluable member of the organisation. Having worked extensively with the government and industry, his perspectives and contribution to DSCI and the initiative will be critical.”
Dr Bajaj has over 30 years of experience in various capacities in the IT industry. His last role before joining NASSCOM was as global head - Information Risk Management and Managed Security Services, Global Consulting Practice with TCS. His areas of expertise include e-commerce, emerging technologies and cyber security.
