Mozy, Inc, an EMC Company and a provider of online backup, has announced that it has doubled the size of its enterprise and small to medium-size business customer base during the first half of 2008. Currently, Mozy has more than 750,000 users and 20,000 business customers backing up 7.6 billion files to its 10-petabyte storage system. In addition, Mozy has announced that Thrive Networks, a subsidiary of Staples, has signed a contract with Mozy to provide online backup to its customers. This service will also be offered to Staples’ customers as Staples Network Services by Thrive.

Mozy automatically protects your digital information, including photos, music, spreadsheets and financial documents, from data loss in the event of hard drive crash, accidental deletion, natural disaster or theft. All files are encrypted first on the user’s machine and then securely transferred to Mozy’s remote data centres via the same encryption methods used for online banking. Mozy offers MozyPro, an online backup service for small and medium-sized businesses with a private encryption key option, 24x7 phone support and an intuitive Web-based administrative console for centralised management. MozyEnterprise is the online backup service for larger organisations seeking assisted activation, robust deployment options and higher prioritisation of support requests.
