Mastek To Transform eScholarship Programme In The State

Department of Social Justice and Special Assistance, Government of Maharashtra has announced that it has introduced ’e-Scholarship’ solution in Maharashtra and enabled transformation of the delivery of post-matric scholarship programme offered by it. To achieve this challenging task, the department selected Mastek to design, develop and implement the ’e-Scholarship’ solution for the state.

The ’e-Scholarship’ solution will directly benefit over 32 Lakh students by speeding up the application process, sanctioning and disbursal procedures of government post-matric scholarships for SC, OBC, VJ/NT and SBC class students. Under this new automated system, the students have a zero-balance account in a nationalised bank where their monthly allowance is credited directly. The student also receives an SMS alert from the system informing him of the same.

The solution user-interface is available in English and Marathi. Apart from enabling granting procedures, the solution also caters to processes of scholarship suspension, renewal and cancellation. The system also provides the department with MIS to monitor and analyse the scholarship distribution and disbursement.

“The e-scholarship solution brings operational efficiency in identifying the eligible students faster and disbursing the scholarship fee into their bank accounts directly in a timely and transparent manner. Mastek team has designed, developed and delivered the solution on time and within budget. They are a committed team and possess the required domain expertise and skills. We look forward to a long and fulfilling engagement with them.” said Shivajirao Moghe, Minister, Social Justice, Maharashtra.

“We are honoured to work with the department for this initiative. The success of this initiative would not have been possible without the vision and commitment of Minister Shivajirao Moghe and Satish Gavai, Principal Secretary, Social Justice, Maharashtra. While designing the ’e-Scholarship’ solution, our aim was to simplify and accelerate the entire process of disbursement of grants. Our team worked closely with them to understand the key issues faced with the existing system and designed a solution that will benefit both the department and the students. This solution will ensure complete transparency in the entire process making it faster, efficient, with fewer chances of errors and reducing fraud,” said Vilas Kanyal, Head – India & APAC, Mastek.
