LogicaCMG has announced the latest release of its Short Message Service Centre, the Next Generation IP SMSC solution. The new release is said to be IMS-ready and completely interoperable with fixed and mobile Instant Messaging (IM) platforms.
The solution is also said to offer extended personalization features for users, advanced content provider support, marketing, reporting and operational management capabilities.
According to the vendor, operators are under increasing competitive pressure and they are looking to exploit internet opportunities. They are seeking advanced solutions to differentiate their SMS offerings in order to sustain revenue growth.
The new SMSC release claims to meet this operator need through a rule-based service logic capability which provides a high level of flexibility in managing and personalizing subscriber’s SMS experience.
Launching the solution, Henk de Boer, senior vice president, mobile messaging, LogicaCMG, said, “As operators prepare for the convergence of networks and services, the ability to innovate and improve existing services such as SMS is crucial in order to stay ahead in this competitive environment. We are convinced that service differentiation and personalization are key to ensure continued messaging success and our latest SMSC release is an indispensable component in this evolution.”
A recent Ovum report has suggested that due to the advent of mobile IM, the global SMS traffic will continue to grow until at least 2010. LogicaCMG says that the latest SMSC release can assist operators by processing such messages at twice the speed for a significantly reduced cost.
