Lenovo has expanded its product portfolio with the launch of ThinkServers targeted primarily at small and medium businesses, besides mid-market companies, branch offices and retail stores in India. ThinkServers are tailored to provide an out-of-the-box solution to SMBs that require robust performance, high levels of storage and a reliable IT infrastructure for sustainable business growth.
Chris Kelly, director, Enterprise Systems, Lenovo APAC, said, “Rather than scaling down existing server offerings predominantly meant for large enterprises, Lenovo’s ThinkServers have been built with a ground-up approach, specifically geared towards addressing the needs of SMB and mid-market companies. Coupled with the 90-day trial package of ThinkPlus Priority Support and ThinkServer management tools, Lenovo ThinkServers offer customers reliability and design to simplify server deployment and management.”
The ThinkServer marks the latest addition to Lenovo’s Think range enterprise computing solutions that includes the ThinkPad notebook PCs, ThinkCentre desktop PCs and ThinkStation workstation PCs. This product offering is coupled with the introduction of ThinkServer management tools - software designed to make installation, update and management simple for SMBs. These management tools consist of ThinkServer EasyStartup, which is a hardware configuration tool that helps customers get their servers up and running quickly; ThinkServer EasyUpdate, which is an update utility that allows users to easily identify, download and install hardware and firmware updates; and ThinkServer EasyManage, which is a tool developed together with LANDesk that allows users to oversee the performance of one or more servers from a single console.
ThinkServer customers can avail of a complimentary 90-day trial of ThinkPlus Priority Support services as they set up their servers for the first time. ThinkPlus Priority Support offers next business day warranty service, 24/7 hardware and software phone support as well as priority call routing to senior level technicians, with optional four-hour on site response and hard disk drive retention.
Amar Babu, managing director, Lenovo India, said, “The ThinkServer launch is a milestone for Lenovo India. This launch adds to our portfolio of hardware offerings from desktops and laptops to workstations and servers. We are happy to offer the full ThinkServer line as well as service and support through our established channel network to business partners.”
The ThinkServer range includes three tower servers and two rack x86 servers, providing a scalable offering to fit the varying needs of businesses with an employee count within 500. The ThinkServer TS100 Tower and RS110 Rack are single-socket servers, equipped with Intel Core 2 Duo or Xeon 3000 or 3200 processors and are targeted for small offices utilising simple applications such as e-mail, messaging and storing files and for use as a Web server.
The ThinkServer TD100 Tower, TD100x Tower and RD120 Rack are double-socket servers, equipped with Intel Xeon 3000 or 5000 processors and are ideal for medium-sized businesses that require additional capabilities such as database applications or virtualisation.
