IBM has announced implementation of its Mainframe hardware and software products at Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation (KEONICS). The implementation includes a Mainframe server (z10) hosted at IBM datacentre, zOS software, Enterprise level storage device (DS8700) and transfer of skills to run technical training and Mainframe related courses at over 150 centres of KEONICS. These trainings will enable students, budding professionals and IT officials for better employment opportunities in their career. Besides, KEONICS would also use this higher education program to further mature as the technology services provider for the state.
KEONICS is a Government of Karnataka owned corporation which is in the business of providing IT consultancy services, application development, setting up IT infrastructure, developing IT Parks and providing basic computer education and technical training services in the state through 100-150 of its partners. Recently KEONICS signed an agreement with IBM to offer higher level, more sophisticated & advance technical curriculum, especially around Mainframe technology to bridge the gap between their existing programs and the needs of corporate clients. As a result KEONICS will run Mainframe related training courses hosted on the IBM Mainframe at Datacentre in Bangalore for corporate companies and large universities in Karnataka.
Besides the hardware and software, IBM provided additional value through IBM Global Financing to KEONICS to enable them to run their training services. IBM has also extended its training material for technical education, transfer of skills (Train The Trainer) to KEONICS from IBM Learning Services to enable the tutors, help deliver the courses, conduct examinations and student certification and project management and quality assurance of the trainings.
