Indian IT Companies Innovate Solutions By Leveraging Open XML

Underlining the relevance of Open XML formats in application development, Indian IT solution providers are increasingly using Open XML as a preferred technology standard. The latest solution providers to join the list include PacSoft Solutions, Skelta Software Inc, Aztecsoft, Processware Systems, AppPoint Software Solutions and Compulink.

According to Sanjay Manchanda, Director, Microsoft Business Division, “Open XML encourages choice, flexibility and interoperability for IT application developers while ensuring they optimise their IT spend, leverage the best-of-breed technology and take advantage of rich work-flow scenarios. The widespread adoption of Open XML formats by companies in India, as well as globally, reiterates the growing popularity of Open XML as a technology standard.”

The latest solutions developed in India are highlighted in the paragraphs below.

Lyceum, developed by PacSoft Solution Limited, is a comprehensive education management tool, which was integrated with Open XML to improve file and data management and enhance interoperability. Aztecsoft chose the Open XML formats since it allows easy conversion to other formats, including other XML formats. Also, Open XML helps reduce document size and therefore minimises storage needs.

Skelta Software created a solution called Skelta SharePoint Accelerator 2007 to provide a familiar, productive IT environment for their employees. The new solution, which facilitates centralised business process management and analysis allowed data fidelity and interoperability because of Open XML. Compulink, chose the Open XML Formats for Whizible, its integrated product management solution to address the challenge of document development and retention.

AppPoint with their BizaApp studio application found it easier to share information and help employees collaborate more efficiently by implementing Open XML. Processware Systems has taken advantage of the new capabilities available in the standardised Open XML formats to improve the efficiency of its BankSoft application. By using Open XML, the company provides its customers with a solution that allows multiple incompatible, banking systems to communicate with one another and share customer data, reduced storage requirements and increased choices.

“Companies like these,” Manchanda adds, “with their innovative products based on Open XML, are heralding a new trend in India that will have a positive impact on computing in the future.”
