CA has acquired IDFocus LLC and its identity management technology, ACE. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
“Identity management is essential to comprehensive IT security, and the integration of CA Identity Manager and ACE technology will enable CA to deliver a robust identity management solution,” said Dave Hansen, corporate senior vice president and general manager, CA Security Management. “This acquisition strengthens CA’s ability to enhance critical elements of CA’s Identity and Access Management suite, which helps our customers effectively manage employees’ and partners’ identity lifecycles and meet new compliance demands.”
Improving Compliance and Business Efficiency
IDFocus provides several identity management capabilities with its technology. IDFocus software includes an ability to help customers meet compliance demands by proactively preventing segregation of duties (SoD) violations. As CA Identity Manager provisions users, it runs a check on the SoD policies set up in the IDFocus software. If a policy violation is identified, CA Identity Manager is designed to prevent the provisioning event from taking place, proactively managing compliance needs and preventing violations before they happen.
CA Identity Manager automates identity management processes, such as user provisioning. The integration of IDFocus software will help increase efficiencies by taking provisioning to a more specific, finer-grained entitlements level. By tightly integrating IDFocus software with CA Identity Manager, customers can link workflows and approvers to very specific user attributes. For example, a user can be provisioned with multiple roles within his or her ERP account and each role can have different approvers and approval processes, modification prerequisites, termination processes, and dependencies.
