Mumbai-based Hiranandani Group has selected HP’s Integrity Servers and HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA) as the platform of choice to implement SAP ECC 6.0 across its headquarters in Mumbai and branch offices spread across Maharashtra as well as other parts of the country.
Operating with a team of 1200 construction engineers and staff, Hiranandani realised the need for IT to ensure consistency across its many branch offices and ensure trouble-free functioning of its various business divisions besides ensuring real-time communication between these business divisions. As part of this exercise, Hiranandani decided to implement SAP ECC 6.0 across the company. Oracle 10G database was chosen by Hiranandani to realise its mission of more efficient business and clearer monitoring of operational goals and activities, project status management and fund allocation. Hiranandani selected HP Servers and Storage to run the SAP applications with Oracle Database.
Joseph Martin, general manager, IT, Hiranandani Group, says, “The choice of HP as the IT infrastructure partner was intuitive for Hiranandani Group. The deployment was a first for us and demanded a commitment of robust assistance, support and crisis management at all times, round the clock, round the year. There was no contest on the reliability and scalability front when it came to the HP Integrity platform and HP EVA Storage. In addition, Hiranandani has also benefited from using HP’s Integrity Virtual Machines (IVMs), storage and support services, and clustering services. As a first time deployment, we needed to be assured of round the clock support and more importantly, feedback during the implementation stages and understanding of our business needs. All of these needs were met by HP.”
Currently, around 300 users are operational in the system, and this number is likely to double in the next three years. The SAP production applications are running on HP Integrity rx2660 servers using HP-UX 11iV2. All the production data is consolidated on the HP EVA4000 through SAN switches.
With aggressive expansions planned in the next year, the HP platform will help Hiranandani readily scale up by over 30 percent and take additional loads without any upgrades, making a huge impact from the cost savings point of view. Most business units at Hiranandani are now part of the HP deployment and stand to gain from it. The HP platform has effectively utilised computing power to accommodate sudden surges in activity, while automatically ramping down on power consumption when workloads are more relaxed.
