The next generation of Hyper text markup language or simply HTML is all set to make life simpler for mobile computing. According to the l atest piece in the Mckinsey quarterly, HTML5, may narrow differences between mobile devices. “HTML5, the most significant evolution yet in Web standards, is designed to allow programs to run through a web browser, complete with video and other multimedia content that today require plug-in software and other work-arounds,” authors Bengi Korkmaz, Richard Lee, and Ickjin Park argue.
The simplicity of using a device is critical to India. The country will certainly embrace the new computing platform. This means computer companies will have to design new products and media companies have to ensure that the content they produce can seamlessly move across devices.
So far cloud computing stayed in corporate board rooms and tech conference halls. The next generation language will take the cloud to the user of mobile devices. This could potentially make local storage redundant. It will also allow a consumer to use any software as and when she needs.
“In theory, this will make the browser a universal computing platform: without leaving it, users could do everything from editing documents to accessing social networks, watching movies, playing games, or listening to music,” says the Mckinsey article.
