GemStone Systems has announced the release of GemFire Enterprise 5.5, a core component of its high-performance EDF or Enterprise Data Fabric. The release will offer distributed event processing capabilities with the introduction of continuous querying and durable event notifications to hundreds of clients.
GemFire Enterprise 5.5 introduces a pluggable framework for security, a graphical monitoring tool for managing multiple deployed distributed systems and increased reliability over the publish/subscribe model. From a business perspective, users can take advantage of the distributed event processing and improved scalability features to immediately capitalise on opportunities created by changing market conditions with improved system response times. The enhancements in GemFire Enterprise 5.5 also enable users to handle data bursts without the loss of data and events for both connected and disconnected client applications.
“The release of GemFire Enterprise 5.5 will help our customers to manage the entire SLA process on a new level,” said Jags Ramnarayan, chief architect at GemStone Systems. “The combination of new features provides customers with the tools to build a scalable and secure data infrastructure that converts a network of nodes into an operational data store.”
Additionally, the GemFire Enterprise 5.5 release optimally distributes data in the distributed system based on the memory allocated by each cache member. With the introduction of continuous querying, developers are able to use simple API to register complex interest in fast changing data and build responsive applications that get timely notifications when the underlying data changes. From a security perspective, customers will now be able to use their existing authentication and authorisation framework to validate credentials of the members of the distributed system.
