Why did you choose to set up your company?

Nexbits was started seeing the potential in the market. With proliferation of smartphones and introduction of various platforms, I definitely saw value of investing in this market. It is my endeavour to develop innovative products and what best way but to start my own company. I envision a bright future for this market as Android technology is much beyond smartphones into Android pads, tablets, huge innovative devices and many more products linked with even super computers.

Android is gaining a lot of popularity, how will it augment the smartphone market?

Earlier, there were numerous platforms for mobiles devices and they were proprietary in nature. Android has played a huge role in creating a large smartphone market and ample opportunities to developers. Android is now a close competitor of Apple as its popularity increases with users and developers alike. Today, there are more than 59 models of smartphones that are running on Android.
I feel, Android has changed the rules of the game and provided equal opportunities to smaller players as well. The open source nature of Android is a major reason for a large number of innovations that we see popping up. Now, major mobile manufacturers like HTC, Sony Ericsson, Motorola and Samsung are opting for Android and each of them have their own UIs.

How mature is the mobile OS market?

The mobile OS market has come a long way from where it had started with simple Java-based applications and limited phone features in the early part of the decade. In the present market, different operating systems that are incompatible with each other cannot continue for long. Presently consumers would like to choose an OS, which has got the maximum number of applications and developers want to develop applications on all platforms. As of now, we have got an assorted market with numerous manufacturers with telecom providers also wanting a share of the pie.

What is your roadmap?

In the next few years we will see tremendous growth in the smartphone market. From being a luxury product in the hands of rich people, it will become an integral part of the common man’s life. This will open flood gates for new computing standards and applications for developers and a rich experience for consumers.
